The Dream Big Pilipinas Select Team competed in the inaugural Coca Cola Cup on May 8. The roster was comprised of the following players:
Rodney was unable to participate due to medical reasons but ably filled in as an assistant coach. Special thanks to Kuya Obet for driving the team, Niel’s mom for providing yummy adobo, Tinnette Nisce for cheering the team on during Mother’s Day and providing refreshments as well as the Caedo family for lending us their son Jose, assisting with coaching and also providing food.
Despite coming up against more experienced and much larger teams in the form of AlabangFootballSchool, TanuanCity, Xavier and Makati Football Club, the team drew plaudits for their tenacity. Special mention goes to Edrien Mendoza who had many fans exclaiming at his exploits in goal. When given the opportunity he showed the ability to make plays on the field as well. Raven Sandencillo showed a lot of spirit and was tireless in playing the most minutes in the game, tracking back while still providing an offense threat. Although he was one of the most diminutive players in the age group, Cedie Montemayor was solid defensively before being substituted due to an injury in the last game against MFC. There were positive contributions from all members of the team and it was a fun learning experience.
