Despite a slow start in the half-day series with two straight 3-1 losses, the team rallied back in the third game with a 2-0 victory, thanks to Edrian Mendoza’s goals. The Don Bosco High School Scholar lead a spirited attack from the left flank, twice slipping past the Nomad defensive line and beating the keeper. Edrian netted 5 of the 7 goals for the team.

The series was concluded by a 9-a-side match, where the team found itself in an early 0-2 hole. The momentum shifted quickly when Niel Musa, the team’s keeper and occasional right back was tested in center-mid post, and highly impressed. Niel provided a consistent and fluid link between the defense and the wingers through quick ball-control and through balls. Edrian scored the first goal off Niel’s through ball, and the equalizer from right winger Nilo Pesimo, from a build-up also facilitated by Niel.

The match came to a dramatic close when an attack by Niel, Edrian, and Nilo was thwarted by the opposing keeper, high inside the penalty box. Unmarked striker Juniel Tillor took possession of the cleared ball from mid line, took several steps forward and looped the tie-breaking goal over the keeper seconds before end of regulation.

The piloted friendly series was the first program completed between Dream Big Pilipinas FA and Nomads FC. A second series will be launched on January 28 involving Dream Big Pilipinas FC, Nomads FC, Azitsirog FC, and Domuschola International School.
