After two and a half months, DBP FA successfully completed its Saturday football clinic called Football Foundations, launched late last year. The program which was the first initiative churned out by the newly launched DBP Football Academy, was made up of 10 2-hour football clinics, for kids as young as 3 years old, to kids as old as 13 years old. Clinics were held every Saturday from 8am-10am at the Valle Verde 2 Mini Park and Football Field.
The intention of the program was to create a sustainable division where DBP FA can gather funds to maintain and expand its academics, athletics, and scholarship program for underprivileged communities.
The program commissioned junior coaches from the underprivileged communities to assist as part of the coaching staff. This allowed young and aspiring coaches to interact and contribute to kids who share the same love for the sport, and also allowed for the participating kids in private schools to build strong relationships with the coaches and share in our cause. A total of 25 children participated in the pilot program.
The Academy will begin its second training program this month and will also operate as a youth football club.
